Supporting Youth, Young Adults, and Lone Soldiers

Ruach Nechona – Supporting Lone Soldiers and Youth

Founded in 2016, Ruach Nechona brings together a large community of young people, Lone Soldiers, volunteers, partners, and social initiatives. Our mission is to provide comprehensive and dignified support to the Lone Soldier community during and after their military service.

Through broad circles of giving, we strive to promote a unified Israeli society and foster leadership development among the younger generation.

Ruach Nechona – Supporting Lone Soldiers and Youth

Currently, around 6,800 Lone Soldiers serve in the IDF, with approximately 3,000 new recruits each year.

At Ruach Nechona, we believe in mutual support and social responsibility—the core values driving our work. So far, we have impacted over 22,573 lives, with the help of more than 3,700 dedicated volunteers.

Our goal is to reach as many young people as possible and create equal opportunities for all through our  Shaveh B’Shaveh (Equally Together) program.

Feeling at Home – Housing for Lone Soldiers

The organization operates housing for 30 Lone Soldiers during their military service.

Each apartment provides:

  • A private room for every soldier.
  • Fully equipped living spaces tailored to their needs.
  • A warm and supportive environment that fosters a sense of belonging.

Beyond offering a place to live, these homes create a community where Lone Soldiers feel truly supported throughout their service.

Personal Mentorship – “Shaveh B’Shaveh” Program

A personal mentorship program led by trained volunteers, providing guidance and support to Lone Soldiers and young veterans. These connections create meaningful and lasting relationships.

Volunteers are there according to the soldiers’ needs and preferences, offering:

  • A listening ear.
  • Advice and mentorship.
  • Support at key moments during and after military service.

This program ensures that no soldier has to face challenges alone.

A Backpack for Every Recruit – The Backpack Project

The organization runs workshops, activities, and lectures for young men and women from educational programs that share its vision and values.

As part of these activities, participants pack backpacks with essential supplies for incoming soldiers.

At the end of the session, each participant receives a backpack, ensuring they enter their military service prepared and equipped for a meaningful journey. Shaveh B’Shaveh.
